When they first moved from their reservation homelands in Oregon (where they grew up) to Columbus over 20 years ago, Ty and Masami Smith initially found it challenging to adapt to their new environment. Thankfully, they soon discovered solace with the Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio (NAICCO). Now the current caretakers of NAICCO, the Smiths have made it their mission work to support and enrich the lives of their fellow Ohio American Indian and Alaska Native community members.
